ABOUT ME

Hi, I am Mrinal, proud to be an Indian. Belong to Kolkata (Earlier name was Calcutta), also known as the "City of Joy", locates in the eastern part of India. I love to travel (especially Offbeat Routes) and like to mingle with people during travel. I go to the new place & try to learn about the local culture, food & daily lifestyle as well as their history, geographical diversity & tourist attractions of that place and enjoy these by heart.

Since my childhood, I love to draw & my favorite subject is drawing any mountain landscape with watercolor. When I go to travel any Himalayan offbeat places, my color boom increases. I am a Software Consultant by profession. So, for professional reasons I have to stay in different places - sometimes outside India or in other cities in India. In that sense my profession allows me to explore more places. The popular travel TV show "Lonely Planet" was my favorite TV show. The first thought process to sharing my travel experience with everyone is from this show mainly. Ian Wright, Justin Shapiro, Megan McCormick and the late Anthony Bourdain, are all my inspirations. I also like to read travel books and watch various travel documentaries on YouTube in my leisure time. All this affected me. My offbeat blog is the result of that influence.

The Himalayas always attract me because of their mesmerizing beauty. I go crazy when I travel to this region, especially to my nearest North Bengal, Sikkim and other Northeast Himalayan hill stations. The offbeat homestay concept is really exciting for me and is a great new addition to Indian rural tourism. My blog is probably the best place to share travel experiences in those beautiful scenic offbeat destinations. I think if you want to get a real taste of the real mountain life, their old days cooking style & food, customs and festivals - you must stay in a homestay. I will share my travel story with you, I don't know how much you will like it, but I can say that there will be no shortage of my endeavor.

For my work, I had to stay in Florida-USA for more than five years. It was a great opportunity for me to explore a new country. Whenever I had time, I would go out with my family and try to find new places in the neighborhood. The experience of traveling to new places was simply amazing. My travel stories from Miami to the Southernmost point 'Key West', NASA's Cape Kennedy Space Center, the Everglades, the Grand Canyon, the Las Vegas desert, Niagara Falls as well as different offbeat Florida State Parks are unforgettable memories. In my blog, I will focus more on offbeat tourist destinations than popular tourist spots and tell you about those travel stories through my blog. I hope that my blog will inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and explore the offbeat travel world!

Your opinion is very important to me. So, I'll always wait for your feedback/comment.

My wife Rupa, niece Bidushi & other family members and my friends (specially Rupesh Mohanty & Sudipta Chatterjee) have given me the courage and inspiration to create this blog. Thank you all!
